If we'd like college presidents, library and historical society directors, state and local officials, digitization partners, and local historical societies to join us for a celebration of LCDP's 5th year of collaboration, we could include the following:
1. Begun in 2004 by Heather Tennies and Ginger Shelley of the Historical Society, Christopher Raab of F & M, and Marilyn Parrish of Millersville University, Lancaster County Digitization Project has grown to include representatives from [how many?] local cultural, historical, and educational institutions.
2. As a result of our collaboration, ___ historic newspapers have been digitized, providing unprecedented world wide access to local historical information. A list of newspapers here?
3. In addition to increased access to unique community and cultural heritage information, participants in LCDP have served as resources for each other, reviewing grant proposals, writing letters of support and sharing knowledge about digitization project technical details and processes. And we've had a lot of fun!
4. During times of economic challenge, collaboration between educational and cultural heritage institutions is even more important. The groundwork that LCDP has created provides benefits to each of the member organizations as we move together into the future. (or something like this??)
What else should we include? Heather has requested that we come up with some basic text so that Tom Ryan can send a letter of invitation to college presidents, directors, etc., to an exhibit opening/celebration in May.
Thanks, everyone! I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Marilyn
